Wrothgar brings a new fishing achievement, plus the first ever PURPLE fish! The “crab-slaughter-crane” purple fish is a bit elusive, but not impossible to catch. Wrothgar also had very few foul water spots, so read on for tips on where to find them.
New Purple Fish – Crab-Slaughter-Crane
The new ocean purple fish can be caught from the shoreline near the Morkul Plain wayshrine. Speak with “Atorag” to hear the story of the Crab-Slaughter-Crane. She’ll give you a vital clue about how and when to catch the fish.
Our guild had luck fishing the spots near the large rock off the shoreline near Atorag. After you’ve nabbed it, be sure to go speak with her again for a new conversation option at the end of the story. 🙂
Foul Fishing in Wrothgar
Foul water in Wrothgar is tough to come by. For some reason, two of the four foul water areas are actually located inside delves/quest areas. The first, and easiest to access, is Nikolvara’s Kennel. There are 3-5 foul water spots just inside the door and to the right. You’ll easily access these without having to face mobs, so it’s also popular for those trying to complete the Wrothgar fishing achievement.
The next spot is a bit trickier to get to because it’s inside Fharun Stronghold. Not only will you need to fight your way through several mob groups, but you’ll also need to go through a puzzle maze (I won’t say more because of spoilers, but you can access this area when you complete the quest “Blood and the Sacred Words”). Once through the maze, you find yourself in a shrine area with several foul fishing spots.
While not in a delve or deep in a shrine, the Graystone Quarry has several foul water spots within some very small pools of water. The quarry can be found between Orsinium and Frostbeak Fortress.
